yasin1 Feb 14, 2006 06:42 PM

Hey Guys,

I am going to go to Turkey this summer (I may leave in May). I am planning to do some herping this summer and I searched for the species we have over there. Here are the viper species:

Vipera ammodytes
Vipera barani
Vipera kaznakovi
Macrovipera lebetina
Vipera pontica
Vipera raddei
Vipera eriwanensis
Vipera ursinii anatolica
Vipera wagneri
Vipera xanthina

As the country is quite big, I will have to choose a region so can you guys give me a direction? Which of these species are rarer and more intresting? I heard a lot about Vipera kaznakovi mainly buy I am not sure about others.

Also there is an elapid species called Walterinnesia aegyptia. Turkish translation says Egyptian Kobra but isn't it Naja haje?

Anyways.. I will appriciate all help.

Thanks,
Yasin

Wagneri! However, all of them are very interesting snakes!

I agree on Wagneri. I kept one. Beautiful (and mine) had an additude that was pure nitro!
