Her Thermometer Broke: Mercury Beads Everywhere!

Siminix Feb 14, 2006 06:50 PM

Okay, when she was shedding today, I noticed that there were little grey specks all over her substrate. Upon closer examination, they weren't specks, but little spheres. Turned out, the bottom of her thermometer broke and the beads fell out... um... this kind of worries me since mercury is, you know, poisonous. I'm cleaning the tank out, but how big of an issue do you think this is? The mercury isn't liquid, but several solid beads.

Newer thermometers no longer use mercury. But none the less, you should take her to a vet.

The little solid balls in a red thermomerter is NOT Mercury. She will be fine unless she ate one.
