Hogg Island Boa with big problems

Demetrius Feb 14, 2006 08:18 PM

I just receveid a beautiful little 05 hogg island boa , only problem is the lower half of his body the spine is kinked and deformed . I had been told by the previous owner he had a kinked tail but I never expected this . He is so sad looking but seems to get around okay and has been eating well. I was told that he was born this way , but what would cause this ? We have already fallen in love with him and named him Seth . Would this deformed spine cause him pain and be to uncomfortable . I really want the best for him no matter what it be , what should I do ? Thanks , oh and Happy Valentines Day .

A responsible breeder would have put him down at birth. Since you have him and if he is eating and defecating with no problems and if you will not breed him and he acts like he is not in pain, it is really your call.
Sorry, but I feel he should have been put down at birth.
Good luck with your decision.

Thanks for the responce . I completely agree I feel that any responcible breeder would have put this snake down in the begining. However he has been thriving for several months now and from what I have been informed the kinks are much better than they were but I cant imagine them being any worse . He has is very calm and curious and very active . He seems to have control of his lower body and can move around okay. He would be a permanent resident here , never be bred and would be taken to educational shows on occasion. I just want to do the right thing for him . I would greatly appreciate your comments and opinions . Thank you .
