Truth about feeding f/t? Seasoned f/t feeders please reply...

SnakeSmith Feb 14, 2006 08:36 PM

Hey everyone,
I have posted here many times on the topic of f/t feeding. I have had pretty good luck with feeding f/t, but I notice my "03"s have just sort of lost interest in feeding. Some for as long as 4-5 months now! Is it just a longer than usual winter fast? Is this what will happen next year with my "04"s?
My intent was to get into balls maintaining them primarily on f/t. Is this truly possible or are "all" f/t feeders forcing their balls (by means of starving them at times) to eat what we want them to eat?
The good of the animal is what truly matters! This, I will stand by as I am simply unwilling to starve, stress, or provide less than optimal conditions for my pets.
Also, for what it's worth, I have been a regular viewer of this forum for a couple years now and feel I have gotten to know who the good guys/gals are in here and just want to say thanks for making this forum a cool place!
Glenn

Some take them and some don't. If mine fast for more than 2 months I offer live, most of them still won't take it, so I don't think that we are forcing them to take FT. I have some that just won't take FT and they get live. I won't starve them to get them to take frozen but the best eaters I have including 6 of the girls that I have breeding this year are all on FT and my girls have only just stopped eating this past week.

Hey Nita,
Actually, I have tried live too without much luck and these are all established f/t feeders. I guess it's a normal fast? It's just much longer than it was last year with certain individuals.
One interesting thing is, the one that has not fed for the longest time is a male that I do not have paired up with any females this year. I would be curious to see if it would stimulate his feeding if I put him with a female for a short time?
Thank you for your reply,
Glenn
