Closet Enclosure Complete.....Check it Out...

heffner2212 Feb 14, 2006 10:29 PM

Ok well I do not have any pics just yet but I will soon. Actually the enclosure still has alot of wrk to do. I dangled a high beam flood lamp above for good lighting and a little extra heat. I purchased a nice size climbing branch. A nice size water bowl and a hide for him. I usually onlyy use 1 hide on the hot side for the enclosure. Then once he gets around 6 ft i take it away since hes comfortable with his house. I still am not 100% sure on how to heart the ambient temps up yet any suggestions? I have a large kane heat mat for basking. I put in cage carpt for the substrate. Itslooking pretty good just needs heat basically.
thanks alot for your help
Mike

ps: I am planning on ordering him from lllreptile around beginning ofmarch so I have to set it all right now. It will only be aroiund 30: at that point do you think it is toomuch stress on him to be in such a large cage at first. Should I set him up in something smaller for now?
thanbks, also one more thing very irrelevant but i want a carpet for my room lol anyone know howmuch a cheap 15'x10' throw rug would be

How deep is your closet? I am only curious how you are going to get him out of the cage when you need to. Do you have a good set of tongs or a hook? Also, do you have regular carpet underneath the reptile cage carpet? Just be sure you can moisten your enclosure to at least 50% humidity without causing mildew in whatever is underneath everything. I would suggest a good 150 or 250 watt infrared heat bulb by exo-terra or zoo-med for overall ambient heat. That is if you mount it 6 or 7 feet above his floor. I have foung that no other bulb generates as much heat as those. Anyway, I found a nice 11 X 18 floor rug for 120. Look for those guys on the corners of intersections, you can usually talk them down, LOL! Hope I have helped.
