Found a small population if these little guys in North-east Ohio

Very nice and interesting. Unfortunately it isn't purely erythristic, but its close. Pure erythristics are pretty much all red, very interesting animals. Northeast OH is the only area of OH where erythristic P. cinereus have been found (7 or 8 counties). Thanks for sharing - neat animal!

I know what your saying. In an old publication on these from the late 1800's or early 1900's (don't remember off hand) they described the morph and how variable it is. Some are completely red while others have less red then a regular wild type red-back.
This population of red-backs has all three morphs; normal, lead-phase, and erytheristic.
Nice. I'd honestly love to see/photograph a nice erythristic P. cinereus sometime. Maybe if I'm in the Cleveland area I could touch base with you? I'm planning on heading up there in the next couple of months to photograph D. ochrophaeus...it'd be a nice opportunity to get some photos of those guys, too. Email me sometime if you'd like at graziano DOT 6 AT osu DOT edu.

I sent you an e-mail let me know if you don't get it. I know some good spots for those too.
Nice sally. Good to see another NE Ohio herper.
