Too much food?

MandyAnn May 19, 2003 01:26 AM

Is 45 2 week crickets too much for a 7 inch Bearded Dragon? He eats atleast 45 a day, and I'm worried that perhaps that is too much and he'll become fat, or worse obese. I mean, he doesn't even seemed phased after he eats 45, and I'm sure he'd eat more if I put them in. And, of course, he hates his fruits and veggies..he once even pooped in them, I think he's trying to tell me something right there.

Thanks,

Mandy

LOL! never heard a dragon refuse his greens in quite that manner

The amount of crickets sounds alright. Pretty much let him eat all he can in about 10 15 minutes time, fed twice a day as well. He needs all that protein to grow so it isn't likely he'll get fat. Better chance of that feeding alot of waxworms or pinkies, as these foods have alot higher fat content than crickets. So i wouldn't worry about him getting fat.
