I am not sure if I would be able to catch snakes in florida when I go in a week (february 24-march 1). I know my dad saw a snake outside of my grandmas door once but I was not awake as it was 1 in the morning this was in the winter. Do almost all the snakes brmate? What are shances of finding them? I will be staying with my grandma.

Well it depends where in florida, i live in Indian river county which is the southern most part of central florida and most of the snakes are out for good. We did just have a freeze but the temps just shot back up, so you deff should find some snakes.

I saw my first few snakes in one day and it was about 45 the whole week, so they are deff back out.

Good luck, hope it helped.

Oh ya seeing you posted this in the Small terrestrial snake forum i guess your looking for snakes like Ringnecks and such, well you deff will find some then as i have already this year.

I hope they are out when I go. I posted here because I didn't want to post in general and I know that a lot of the small snakes are wild caught. I wish to catch a ring. But anything will do, well maybe not something venomous. I am also planning on catching a lot of the little geckos and maybe a curly tail. I love all those things. I have seen some weird thing in the condo conplex my grandma lies in. I think it is one of the best herping spots. I have even seen owls.

Lol just dont do what my uncle did. He bought in a flower pot with a large plant that was in his yard (Miami) 2 days ago .
Later while watching tv a snake crawled out of it he grabbed it with his hand and took it outside and let it go in his yard which was great but he should have used an oven mitt as it was a coral snake.
I didnt see it but my aunt described the colors and red was touching yellow but my uncle didnt know such a thing as coral snake and thought it was a scarlet kingsnake as a few in his area.
Who knows perhaps it was and my aunt got the colors wrong but the snakes are out .
