Spinal Kinks

Demetrius Feb 15, 2006 11:29 PM

I recieved a hogg island boa the other day that has several severe spinal kinks along his body . They start about half way down his body . He is eight months old and only 134g , he was a poor feeder at the begining but apprently good now . He is a fairly healthy snake other than the spinal kinks . He can get around okay , and seems is very active and curious . He is handable and very calm , no signs of being stressed or at all aggressive . He can function okay and the kinks have apparently been in improving with age . Is it fair to keep him alive or would I be making him suffer ? I would really appriciate your opinions and advice . Thank you .

I would say keep him. I don't think he would be eating if there was any pain there. Sounds like he has a good home now and is healthy. I don't think it is genetic but I wouldn't take any chances breeding him down the line.

I bought a Boa 15 years ago that it's head was cocked to the right or left when born and after a few years he grew out of it and was a normal healthy boa that is still alive today.

Take care-

Brett
