Santa Cruz, CA herping, a few questions

Zach_MexMilk Jul 26, 2003 08:24 PM

Hello all,

I have a few questions about how to herp in the Santa Cruz mountains. When my dad and I go up there, we don't find any areas that allow us to get out of the car and actually go look. Basically, once we hit "hot-spots" like Ben Lomond (St.Francis Square) it is all road. How do all these people find hot herps like zonata and rubber boas in Ben Lomond when it is like that? Any tips of public area to look and photograph will be great. Thank you-Zach

I am sorry I cant help you much as I have not been herping there in years. I do however recal there being some trails neer the residential areas of the mountains. I remember specificaly one time observing a rattle snake at the mouth of such trails. Good luck Maybe some time we will meet up there.
