leo substrate

tamlin Feb 16, 2006 05:53 AM

i have been using paper towels as a substarte for my leo, but i want to get something a little more natural looking. i dont want to get sand, so i was wondering if big gravel piecies would be okay? as long as they were too big to eat and non-abrasive? any ideas?
she seems like shes been bored with her setup because i never see her out, and im up till the AM's. so any advice on what to add to make her want to explore/ spruce things up would be great!

Check out the listing of leo pictures. Then hit the "most viewed" option in the upper right. YOu'll see a tank, in just a ten gallon, that is amazing. While you might not want to go through all that trouble, it might give you some ideas.

Tile is your best option. Big pieces of gravel is worst than sand.

I like stone tiles. They look great, natural, and easy to clean!

Good luck,

You can use slate tile (that you can get really cheap from home depot) which I use in my fishtank. But I use these tank liners that I got from someone on the classifieds section for my sterilite racks. And I am thinking about getting these liners for my vision tanks too. They are precut to your tank size, and you just throw them away every so often like the newspapers. But its all brown so it looks a LOT nicer. Here is the site I think I got them from (not sure, pretty sure) www.kingsnake.com/cageliners/
