Anyone using those large Vision display cages?

tcdrover Feb 16, 2006 08:18 AM

What do you think of them?

Are you stacking them?

Is there any other options on nice large cages that are similar to these?
(Not home-made)...

Thanks,
tc

We use visions for some of our large constrictors and on a scale of 1-10 (10 being the best) I would give them a 6; not great but not bad either. The cages can be stacked but the more weight you have the harder it is to open the glass doors due to the plastic warping. The many crevices on the inside roof makes it very difficult to install heat panels depending on the model. The lips are annoying. The heat shroud is too close to the cage floor making burns a real possibility with a moderate bulb. Customer service pretty much stinks...good luck trying to get a return call, or, if you have a problem, have that problem rectified. BUT, with that being said, they have served their purpose and the animals have done well with them (I also use some of them at home for my indigos and black headed pythons). Next time around, though, we'll probably be going with something else like boaphile.

I agree with visions Customer Service, hahahaha, thats funny. The heat thing to. I love my AP cage and the customer service is great. However I am looking for an 8ft cage now so I think I am going to pony up and try the NERD cages.

Who has info on the NERD cages...I've heard them mentioned a few times but haven't been able to find any info even on the NERD website...any ideas?

Yeah, I need to look into them.

Before there was a brand of nicer, but expensive cages called
Habitat (?) I think. My link for them is no good now.

I thought they were too pricey a few years ago, but now I need
to check them out again...

I've looked at Visions, and do like them. If you read down or search the posts here, there seems to be a whole lot of issues with them.
I don't think they make a cage for a large burm though. Their biggest is 6ft, and another 7ft 8in. Way pricey.
I use 8ft cages for my guys, and sometimes I think that's too small. They seem to use every inch of them.
My experience with the cage makers I use. Customer service sucks. I'll leave them nameless, but you can email me for the name.
I was at NERD last summer, and while getting a tour, I saw the cages, and they are impressive. I inquired about buying them back then
The were'nt ready for production at the time.
The quality, and workmanship is great. But very high priced.
Look around, you'll find something priced between Vision and NERD that will fill your needs.

If you go to their web page and I think its nerd stuff, and it is in there. I emailed them to ask them about shipping. They said it would be their first but they have to start sometime. I would imagine that will cost some coin to. I do like NERD alot, everytime I have had to deal with them they are there for ya. But at 1,600 a pop, it makes you think. They do look sweet and probably even better in my house. Hahaha. But again AP has awsome service as well.
