"vanishing" honduran cross ideas

heavenlyreptiles Feb 16, 2006 12:42 PM

I am getting a "vanishing pattern" honduran male in the next few weeks. I am probably going to get a anery honduran female at least. But, im going to the NARBC show in September and need some ideas as to other snakes that would look good bred to it.

Only thing that comes to mind initially is a leucistic texas ratsnake. Maybe one of the bloodred corns.

Any ideas?

Hi
You could get an albino thayeri leonis phase or a 100%het female and mate it with your vanishing honduran then hold back the best of the offspring hopeing that they are carrying the albino gene and mate them for a result. that would make the offspring ruthveni x thayeri x hondurensis albinos, then i would mate them to a Motley corn to mix and stretch the pattern and bump the colour.

remember hybridizing can be a pain in the neck and 1st gen babies dont usualy look very special. 2nd and 3rd gen are giving the results.

if you are useing non hybrids to start then you are going to need pairs and trick them into breeding. once you have your hybrids then they can be bred to any of the colubrids involved in the production of your hybrid, also they tend to breed over to something else much easy'er.

You need to put a lot of effort and time into producing stunners.
Have a good plan of how your going to get your goal.

Keep your records and be honest when selling offspring.

Good luck with whatever you choose to produce your hybrids.
