Music to their ears?

Hokaiye Feb 16, 2006 08:59 PM

I keep two mountain horned dragons, a CWD, and two corn snakes in my bedroom with me. Often times, Im listening to music. I keep it at a moderate level... not blaring through the walls but not real low either. From what I can see, they dont really react to it in the least. All of my animals are happy and healthy (other than my CWD's scraped up eye - which is looking much better) - Does anybody have any opinions about whether the music is a good or bad thing?

P.S. A pic of my CWD Murdoc "playing dead" (or begging for a belly rub )

I play Bass and have Tinnitus so I am very aware of excessively unneccesary volume when playing. That said, When jamming with freinds in my basement where I keep my herps and gear I try to limit their exposure and if things do get a little loud I try to move them to the far side of the cellar. I have the option of also covering enclosures with those heavy moving van blankets to deaden the decibels. I also have musicians ear plugs that allow you to hear but have changable filters to cut decibels.

I too am concerned for my animals as well as my own hearing. So far no apparent problems. I would guess thunder storms in the wild can be loud too but they would be a lot less frequent. Music is important in our lives I think it's great that you are watching out for your herps. Don't forget your own ears too!
Good luck.

Wonderful! Thanks. I've also been looking at getting some sort of chameleon (still lots of studying to do) - and from what I hear, they prefer quiet places, so I may have to do some rearranging. For now, I'll keep the volume to a moderate level.
