Translucents??????

what cross do you have to breed to get a translucent beardie? How do I find out if the beardie carries that trait? And if you breed a translucent pair what are the chances of the clutch being all translucent? Thank You....

HI

You need at least 2 het for trans. to get trans. offspring
trans x trans = 100% trans. clutch

But the degree varies, some are more translucent some are less.

You have get your hands on a perfect (100% trans) translucent couple to work with, and yes these are the most expensive ones.
This way you'll probably have the highest % of perfect trans in clutch.

Trans x trans isn't recommended and working with hets is better, because the offspring will be stronger.
So you need to breed the trans to not trans dragons, and then breed the opfspring of seperate clutches (het x het breeding).
The only thing is that you'll have a lesser amound of trans in each clutch when working with hets.

But i think the main thing is to keep the dragons healty.

It is extremely difficult to tell visually if a dragon carries the trans gene. They look just like normal dragons.I bred trans to trans last year, and got 100% trans. They all varied in color and the amount of white they have. Even though both parents were super trans(no white), they still produced offspring that had white on the heads. Usually, they tend to lose it as they grow(similar to hypopastels gaining white as they grow, but the opposite). Also, not all the babies had the blue eye straight out of the egg. They also usually gain it as they grow. Both of the parents hatched with the blue eye. Basically, this trait is extremely variable. In my opinion, is better to use semi-unrelated hets, or double hets to produce them. Josh

Thanks for the info. Now how much are they?and are they any harder to care for then the other morphs? Are they going to be mass produce to the public real soon?Cause sounds like only a chosen few have them......I'm really interested in buying one but im still gathering more homework on it...

The regular trans usually run for about 500 each retail. It also depends on the amount of white they have(less is more desireable). I am also working on hypotrans, hypotrans/smoothie, white head/trans bodies, etc... These ones I haven't figured a price yet. This is an older picture of some hypotrans males. These are massive sized dragons now, and a green color. They are not even a year old, and over 20 inches.
