I just got my first leo. And a couple Qs

He's so cute and little! I just got him today from a coworker at the zoo who breeds them. I read to feed babies 6-10 crix/mealworms a day. Is this right? I still haven't got his humid hide set up but I'll be getting some peat tomorrow. He has a cool hide, a warm hide plus is humid hide, this is good right? I fed him three little crickets tonight and he pounced on them. I thought it would be better to feed him at night so he wouldn't be so nervous. Oh and I think he's about seven weeks old, what size would a leo that age be? Thanks for reading and for the help.

It's a good idea to have some mealworms in his dish all the time. You can also use paper towels in his humid hide. Remember not to handle him to much until he gets a little more used to his new home. Good luck. I just got a new leo recently as well.

Hey, Congratulations!! But I caution you... You can't stop at just one!!!

I feed my young ones approx 10 of the 1/2" mealworms a day. Also, I gutload them first and then dust them with calcium before I feed them to the leos. The babys need the calcium for strong bones! You can use small crix too. Just gutload and dust with calcium.

Size if a 7 week old is hard to say since some come out smaller than others and some grow faster than others.

Yea, that will work. Just give him/her as many crickets/mealworms as he/she will eat. They're not like dogs they eat anything and everything nonstop lol! Are you keeping the crix in the cage or are you putting some in just when ever? You could put like 8 crix in then give a little bowl of mealworms as a side dish. Make sure to count them so you know if he's eaten anything. Good luck, Katie
