Gentle Giant Tongs and rusting...

goini04 Feb 16, 2006 10:04 PM

Hey all,

I finally obtained my Gentle Giant Tongs from Midwest. So far I love them, but I was wanting to know if they were prone to rust really easy or not? I know I saw a photo of Brian Fry and his tongs while in the middle of a pond catching a cottonmouth, but wasn't sure if anyone happened to have any problems with their tongs and doing this. Just want to know ahead of time before I risk my tongs in water.

Thanks,

Chris

I don't own any tongs to know forsure, but they are probably made of Aluminum. And Aluminum doesn't rust. Just my guess though....

As a big supporter of the use of Gentle Giant tongs, and, having used them for quite a few years, they do indeed resist rust. We use them for many applications, some, that include complete submersion in water and they have worked just fine; no rusting, squeeking, etc. You'll love them.

Thanks for the feedback Mr. Carmichael and CBH. I just wasn't totally sure as when I saw the spring in there, I figured that would be the first to go if it was overcome with Rust. I am glad that they are resistant to it and that will be certainly helpful in the field.

Thanks again!

Chris

My GG tong squeaks like crazy. The frame will never rust....the galvanized spring will resist the elements, but it's an easy replacement. Just remember.....metal never forgets!
