Humid hide

favrefan12 Feb 16, 2006 10:35 PM

So, I hear the easiest humid hide is just a tupperware container with a hole in it and something spongy on the bottom. I was wondering if there was a way to make a more visually pleasing humid hide. Also, why would large pebbles (1.5" x 1.5" be worse for the leo than sand? Seems kinda odd to me.

I have a a page on my website "How to Make A Humid Hide" that has pics of some that I've done & how I decorated them. Might give you some ideas.

As for the rocks, they wouldn't be a health problem at that size. Some problems I could see are, the feeder insects easily hiding in the rocks, they would probably not be the easiest thing for a Leo to walk around on, hard to clean up the Leo poop and getting a good substrate temp on the warm side will be difficult.

Thank you very much for the info. I went with tile, and it looks pretty nice. I think I'll let my girlfriend do the decorating of the humid hide, she's got a better creative mind than me.
