Blood not eating

fat_bastard Feb 17, 2006 10:01 AM

I got my blood, Sadie, on 1/21. She ate a f/t adult mouse on 2/2 and has not eaten since. I have offered a f/t adult on every wednesday and sunday since but she just does not eat them. Her temps and humidity are all good. She has a good place to hide but spends most of her time buried in the substrate. Should I be worried?

She may be getting ready to shed...mine stops eating a week or so before his skin gets opaque. Try offering her a rat pup instead. And try this..get a gladware bowl thats big enough for her to fit into and cut a hole in the side of it and leave it sitting upside down in the cage so she can get into it. I use this for my blood's humid hide but I also feed him in it. Put her in there with the food before you go to bed and I bet it will be gone in the morning.

I have found that many bloods can be intised to eat when the mouse or rat is soaked in chicken broth and presented to the animal at night.

Try it!

I usually feed at night anyway, but I may try the chicken broth thing as well. That sounds like a good idea. Thanks
