Banana Cal King ( het Albino) x Albino Nelsons Milk??

dawnrenee2000 Feb 17, 2006 10:11 AM

Has this cross been done by any of you. It wasn't my goal to create a hybrid this season, but it turns out that my plans changed. Wonder what this cross will produce?

Nice couple of colubrids you have there but your going to need one more of each and trick them into breeding over. the nelsons x banana crosses look simular to an Imperial but allsorts of things can happen when you hybridize, so it would be wait and see.

We are doing a lab with Science Freshman kids using the snakes to teach genetics . We created a website to track all that happens, etc. and they are to try and learn how to predict possible offspring traits. ( www.reptilegenetics.org ) Well to make a long story short the intended female of the breeder pair ended up with an RI. She was a recent add to the collection just for the experiment and got sick in shipping. Since she became ill we decided not to cancel the genetics lab and use Rosie since she had shed at the perfect time. The site actually explains it all if your interested.

As for putting the two together, we just watched them closely when together and realized they did like each other. They copulated several times over a two week period. I guess it was my luck to have an extremely horny and loving male snake ..hehe.

I will let you guys know how it turns out. Needless to say this makes figuring out what the genetic results of the offspring are darn near impossible, but it sure will be interesting!!!

are you selling the offspring?

I doubt she will lay very many eggs and of course it remains unseen as to whether they will be healthy eggs even, but If all goes well, I will keep back two for myself and sell the remaining offspring.
