This is my regular update from Ireland. We had a mild day last week and this Monday, 13/2/06 and again the roads from my house down to the town were crawling and hopping with frogs, Rana temporaria. I usually expect them to spawn here by Feb the 17th but that's today and it's been a bit colder since Monday.Last year a few spawned about this date then we had a cold spell for a month and the rest didn't spawn for a full month. I hope to get over to England about mid to late March when the common toads Bufo bufo spawn. No common toads in Ireland except in my garden. Smooth newts,Triturus vulgaris, should show up in my pond soon.
