SoCA field herping assoc mtg reminder - sat night!

Jeff Lemm Feb 17, 2006 02:19 PM

This is an invitation to all to come and check out the inaugural meeting of the Southern California Field Herping Association. I have been thinking about doing this for some time and after all the replies on various online field herping forums, I decided it was time. The meeting is open to all, but the association is all about field herping. Meetings will have nothing to do with herpetoculture and the private trade of keeping and breeding reptiles. Instead, this new group will focus on field herping and how private herpers can help conservation through adding their finds to an online database. The database will be up soon and will cover all of the United States and Mexico. I have been given permission to use a large room free of charge, so please come and check it out.

When: Saturday, Feb. 18th 6-? p.m.
Where: Conservation and Research for Endangered Species (CRES)
San Diego Wild Animal Park
15600 San Pasqual Valley rd.
Escondido, CA 92027
(one gate past the main gate to the Wild Animal Park, on the left, when heading
east on San Pasqual Valley rd.)

I will give the first presentation on “Field Herping in Western Mexico”
We will then discuss the society, filed trips, the name of the group, the database, and any other issues. Please come and check it out – it can only work with your help!

Bring treats to share, no alcohol, no live animals.

Hey Brett,
Congrats on the eggs, and it went quite well. We are now the SoCA chapter of the North American Field Herping Association and other groups around the country are looking to form chapters. The website for us will be up soon , as will the database. Scott gave us our own forum on FHF, so check it out and voice your opinion! See ya soon, field trip is being planned for the weekend I think.
