Nice contrast! At first I thought it was just a het., but after looking at the last two pics I realized it's a homo. freckle tongue!

IS it a YellowBelly?

Flames on his side, somewhat bright colouration, and the spot on the top of the head. Hmmmm...

Nice 'normal' you have there, Tosha.

Good eye!!!!

Yes he is a YB - I didn't like the way the camera picked up his color - will have to play with the lighting a bit.

Between the flames, spot on the head, and the 'brightening' of the pattern dorsally I was, ohhhh, 100% sure of him being a YellowBelly.

Congrats on the new fella. Smell that? That's the smell of eventual Ivories.

Good Luck.

So what does the belly look like and who'd you get it from?

toshamc Feb 18, 2006 11:23 AM

Actually the last picture was taken came from this one:

which was taken in Macro Mode at 2592 x 1944 pixels and then cropped.

I just love those toungue shots - (same picture)

My two problems now are that the flash always gets the camera shadow when shooting in macro and now I am able to capture the dust that settles on my snakes. LOL they need baths before I can take close ups.

I would think you shouldnt have any problems - doing it that way - make sure you take your photos with a high pixel count - that way you'll keep your clarity when you zoom and crop down to the face or whatever.

I take the regular picture at the highest pixel setting (comes out huge when I open it in the photo program):

And then crop it down to something like:

I can never get mine to get a clear picture of the snakes tongue when it's out. Maybe I need to change some of my settings on my Canon S500.

toshamc Feb 18, 2006 02:50 PM

It's the Canon PowerShot S2 IS - a simple little point and shoot - but it's got the macro function which helps get those scale and tongue shots to come in clearer. I am amazed at the quality of the pictures for the price of the camera. If I had any clue what I was doing I am sure the pictures could come out better. LOL.
