i got my crestie when he was a baby about 3 months ago. hes now gained some size and is looking healthy as heck.
until recently i got him a 10 gallon enclosure, which i equipped with some artificial vines and some climbing spots and as substrate i used sphagnum moss.
i was thoroughly cleaning the cage tonight, when i realized that under the moss layer there were a crap load of ants! little tiny sugar ants, i had seen a couple roaming around the cage but never thought there would be so many. i never see them climbing up the glass or travelling in large packs.
the crestie seems alright to me, but i dont know if these ants can potentially cause any problems.
if so what subtrates would you recommend? is it the subtrate to beggin with?
what other subtates can i use to make it look natural? i would really like to avoid substrates such as paper towel.
