Hi guys,
My Ec crassus have definitely been keeping me busy! I don't know how you larger scale breeders find the time!! I've only had 15 to deal with as yet!!

Anyway, here's a couple of pics of the babies taken a few weeks ago (they've doubled in size now)

Thanks for looking

Your photobucket links appear to be broken... I can only see the "Oops" placemarker
things...

Is it just me or does that rainbow seem to have some striping along its flanks?
That's interesting if so.

BTW do you have bigger pictures of your snake?

Hi Shane,
I'm having computer troubles at the moment but here's the same one bigger. Both the parents and a few of my subadults are showing this striping. I'd like to see how this comes out.

And another

Here's the father of above. Not a rgeat pic but you can just see the stripe

And finally an unrelated subadult.....

Cheers

Great pictures there. The father of those snakes is a handsome one himself, too.
BTW, those are the Guyana Rainbows right? Or are they Paraguyan's? According to Jeff Clark's site, Epicrates cenchria crassus applies only to the Paraguyans.
Hmm, I'm not even sure if the Guyana's have a proper subspecies name.

Hi,
Thanks Shane.

They are Paraguayans. Guyanans are lighter bodied and smaller. The adult male is just under 5ft and weighs over 4lbs now. I had some Guyanans (Epicrates cenchria spp.) which were both about 4 ft and weighed around 2lbs each. The Paraguayans have a much narrower head, longer snout and smaller eye than the Guyanans I have seen.

I heard somewhere recently that Guyanans had been given the specific name Epicrates maurus guyanensis but not sure what that was based on as I don't feel that they are close enough to Epicrates cenchria maurus. Head shape is similar but the 'maurus group' are generally much heavier. I haven't seen the paper on this yet though (Matz, 2005).

Here's the Mother..... Photo's come out really small again. when I get onto my home computer I'll get some photos of my Guyanans up for comparison

I thought they were Paraguyan's... They have nice patterns, but I still am more fond of the look of the Brazilians, with thier golden brown to reddish tone. The Columbians are nice too, even though they have little to no pattern as adults.

I wonder if we will ever have the kind of color morphs in the Rainbow that the corn snakes have now... probably not, but it would be nice to see some color variations that don't cost thousands of dollars.
