LEGIONIS
Even looks to have an irridescent red sheen. Where are N. h. legionis from?
Cheers, Lee.
FROM MORROCO,
>>FROM MORROCO,
If it's from Morocco, then it is simply a melanistic N. haje. Few workers now recognise the subspeces legionis.

Wolfgang

Hi,
I am not arguing about what it looks like, I am merely stating the fact that many herp systematists do not recognise legionis as a separate subspecies, irrespective of what it looks like. From our genetic data, legionis is prettymuch indistinguishable from Egyptian haje, so that would support recognition.
Are you sure that your specific specimen is indeed from Morocco?
Cheers,
Wolfgang

Of course, lack of genetic differentiation supports NON-recognition!
