new guys & some white stuff?

wisp Feb 19, 2006 10:52 AM

hey there.
yet another weirdo thing.
long story short, i got some new male cresties thursday night. no idea who they originaly come from, it was a rescue thing. they've been togeather the entire time, no agression problems, they even sleep togeather.
anyway, i noticed when bringing them home that both were secreating a white gel out their vents. it wasn't always dropping out, they will reach behind and lick it off. it looks like clouded jello gel stuff. i've never seen it before. one's vent looks fine, and he lets out way less of the stuff. the other guy's vent is a little more open looking. i can try and get a picture but no garuntees, the ligting in the place sucks.
while on the car ride home, they let out three seperate times each i would say. home now, i haven't seen any of it in the tank at all. i imagine they're cleaning it up themselves.
anyone know what this stuff is?
i havn't been bothering them to check in on their vents, letting them ajust to the new place. i am concerened about it and would like to fix it asap.
lots of reptiles problems this last month. sheesh!

julie, how old are you? ( i'll try to keep it as non descript as possible just in case...)
maybe you should do a little research on human reproduction.... or gecko secretions from MALES
this is perfectly normal, they are basically getting arroused.

sounds like your male geckos are gets getting a little too excited about their new home. basically that white stuff is sperm.

ha!
i guess i can take it as a compliment and move on.
geez, that's embarissing.

i'll admit cresties are my first reptiles. i got a learning curve to tackle. cat's don't really do that, and neither do hermit crabs.
i am never gonna live this one down. just don't tell anyone else in washington state for me 'kay? just between you, me and the whole forum.
oi.
