For all the intermediate phase lovers; this 2004 male produced by Ric Blair has been nothing but impressive and I have to show him off. As a yearling his ground color was a beautiful bright apricot-orange. Red is bleeding into his orange ground color which is now becoming a deep rosy red-orange, and he is staying pretty much speckle-free. Almost unbelievable color. If this guy continues to improve the way he has, he’s going to be a dandy for sure. He is putting on good size and should be ready for breeding by next year. He will be a mate for my ‘04 Vivid intermediate female at some point, and should pair up with a super-nice nice orange milksnake phase Vermilya ‘03 female next year.

Same male last year. Pics provided at time of purchase, and are pretty accurate to what he was.

"MountainKing" intermediate male in early 2005.....

Hey Mike

What a very nice transition. Are you sure you're not injecting beta carotene to pump the orange and get them that bright? hehe, jk. He can probably rival the Bodner's red-cheeked male when he's fully grown. Very nice. Talk to you soon.

ps. this male is saying, "I wanna be like Mike's"

lol! Be nice Bro'!

No tricks, no beta carotene injections(does that really work? ), and no Rit dye... just fuzzy power and a heapin' helpin' of Mother Nature's magic. And the young male here thanks you for the kind words, but he won't even come close to challenging Mike's orange-cheek VR male. That one is in a class all to himself with his screaming vermillion colored saddles, head pattern to die for and orange that just won't quit!

Although I've alway considered this girl an MSP, she is the closest thing I have to an intermediate.

The first pic is of her as a hatchling the other 2 are her from last year

Not looking for compliments, just sharing some of nature's beauty that I am fortunate enough to be able care for and enjoy. I do appreciate the kind words though, thanks Chris.

I really like Rick's term "Mountain King" for these, it's starting to stick with me and I think we should use it. Your female certainly looks to be an intermediate milksnake phase to me. I remember that gorgeous girl, and she is what I would call a fine example of intermediate phase. High count narrow saddles with ground color bands that are extra-wide and almost equal width with blazing color... fantastic female and I would bet she produces that "perfect" intermediate phase for you herself at some point. I would say, pair her up with Sharktooth and watch what happens!

Mike, where have you been hiding that guy.........Has it all in one package....really like this guy...mb

mexicanamak Feb 20, 2006 05:51 PM

Thanks Mike, he's been hiding in the same place as those killer babies from your orange-cheek male. I should be showing photos of a few more of them before long. That narrow-saddled leonis male looks like his orange is going to be as intense as his fathers, I wish I would have bought his milksnake phase sib brother along with him. Whoever has that one has another prize-winner on their hands.

I really like the bold black saddle borders on this Ric Balir male, the high-contrast is pretty striking I think.
