Does anybody have pics of Galveston,Texas Holbrooki?

kfisher29 Feb 19, 2006 01:58 PM

They usually aren't very pretty at all,but they get HUGE! They tend to have white spots intead of yellow spots. I've seen ones 5-6 feet long when I lived in Houston and would hunt galveston. The record is 74 inches. I think they get bigger because they feed on western diamondback rattlesnakes alot on the beaches. Kevin Fisher

Here are a few pics of some holbrooki from the Galveston area. I tend to stay away from the island itself as it seems to be kept cleaner than the other coastal areas around it. I certainly wouldnt say they are all ugly down that way. Have you see the animal that is in the Werler/Dixon book ? That is a Galveston county animal. Biggest one I have seen myself from down that way was pushing 5 ft. I'll be heading down that way this Friday to do a little flipping!

Nice shots, Scott! Looks like you have an overabundance of specks over there! Good luck this weekend.
