just need a little help

Hey, I have a 20 gal. tall tank sitting around, and I have been thinking of turning it into a frog terrarium. I would like to fill it with live plants and create an actual environment for some frogs to live in. Does anyone know where I could find info on making a frog terrarium? or of any colorful plants that will thrive in the high humidity and soil moisture? thanks for your help!

Hi,
I just set up my 20 gal long for some and working on my 10 gal.
Great info at blackjungle.com and edsflymeat.com.
Ed will answer your questions over the phone. I haven't heard back from Black Jungle so they may be gone to a show. Their sights are good to check out.
I figured I would give you a start as this forum can get slow.
Good Luck.

There are a lot of places on line to get small, colorful plants that are suitable for tropical vivariuims with frogs. Do your search under "terrarium plants," and you'll come up with several sources. There are many small ferns, Pileas, Peperomias, Pellionias, creeping ficus, ivies, Fittonias, Selaginella, mosses, as well as bromeliads for the background that do very well in small habitats without becoming too large. You will always need to do some trimming of the enthusiastic ones, of course. I personally avoid the big stuff like the Pothos and Philodendrons, just because the leaves are too big and they grow too fast in general. Think small when you plant. It's a miniature replica of a rain forest, not a big real one.
