tank set up, just a quick question

pinkgecko16 Feb 19, 2006 08:01 PM

i have a 33 gallon take and im using a uth. i also have a 60 watt red bulb for the night(just so i can see them) my parents bought me a stand and a top for the tank but i havent been using the top because its wood and im worried about the top cathing on fire from the light. the wood top has a piecer that lifts up. If i lower the light so its not touching the top but its under the wood top would that be ok..?

You don't specify what type of temperatures you have so I'll just assume the red light for nighttime isn't used for heating purposes. If you'd just like something to see them with I'd go with a flourescent fixture and a blacklight. That will give you plenty of light to see them moving about at night and doesn't heat up enough to worry about catching fire to the hood.
