OK, is this the numbers from the manufacturer, or an actual test? No info on the site.

I looked over the chart and I can't tell off the top of my head whether those are figures from the manufacturers or from some other source. Some of the data looks suspect like the T-Rex Active UV heat saying recommended distance is something like a foot away from the bulb? Of course, as I mentioned in my previous post, all the data on microwatts in the world is essentially useless until we actually know what the requirements are for the actual animals. For all we know even though natural sunlight has a much higher rating in microwatts than a mercury vapor bulb, the herps may not even need that high of a frequency. They might get all then need from a much lower microwattage over a short amount of time. We simply don't know until someone does the bloodwork on actual wild animals in-situ. I would still say stick with Reptisun 5.0 bulbs for most applications except very large cages or cages that are large and house animals with what we think are higher UV requirements.

Big animals, little animals, plants - right down to the sea itself. We need them, not just for their own sake, but because all this has to be here for everybody forever. Only one thing is certain: if we are to preserve our environment and save this priceless wildlife we need much, much more knowledge.

I totally agree of course. But I also do not want to spend top dollar on a "name brand" bulb that says it is 8% of some unknown number and it puts out squat. squat is a non euclidian math term equaling 0. More than ever I WANT a meter!

The reptile D-light were the ones we use to carry. To bad too, they were relatively cheap. I may see if they have some still in stock and get them for the future.

Well, Kaplan's chart which is from Gehrman's nearly 10 year old paper still shows that the Reptisun 5.0 is the highest [at least on that chart] rated UVB bulb. For my money I'd still stick with Reptisun 5.0 as that so far has been proven out in subsequent studies to be the best fluorescent bulb on the market. If you really want a UVB meter get the Solarmeter - it's become a sort of herp industry standard, however it will only tell you how much UVB is being radiated from your bulbs and when to replace them. There is still the issue of how much UVB of what percentage is enough?
