i know nothing about leopard geckos....more(macksnow&bb?)

adamjeffery Feb 19, 2006 09:22 PM

so a little about myself i have breeding corns for about 6 years and was breeding box turtles b4 that and now i have a lot of other snakes and turtles. al in all i have been keeping reptiles in general for about 15 years.
i would like to get some leopards but i have a need to know everything b4 i go and do itso i have a few questions about genetics.
i expect that albino genes and hypos genes are simple recessive like in corns, but what about the mack snow and blazing blizzards. these ar ethe ones i like the most so im curious about them.also i seen their are some different types of mack snows what are the differances. the one i liked was white with a grey/black pattern of a normal.but it didnt give a name with it.is their a sight that explains leopard genetics, a little more insight would be helpful

If only leo life was as esay as corns.
Albino's are recessive but there are three strans(tremper, bell, rainwater) and it's not that strate foward. Example(tremper albino x tremper albino = tremper albino)ok that esay but (tremper albino x bell albino = normal het tremper & bell albino).Hypo's are not like corn hypo's leo hypo's are line bred breeding a leo with a low number of spots to another leo with a low number of spots giving you babys with a lower number of spots, ect.Mack snow are co-dom you get instant results (mack snow x normal = mack snow & normal) if you breed a (mack snow x mack snow = super snow) there maybe other babys morphs from that breeding but i'm not to sure.Blazzing blizard is a combo morph (albino and blizzard) so (albino x blizzard = normal het albino & blizzard) then breed the (normals het albino & blizzard x normal het albino & blizzard = normals, albinos, blizzards,& blazing blizzards).

i think ill just stick with some blazing blizzards and albinos cuz i guess with the macks the stripes go away with age? and im not bid into the spotted ones at least for the price they are going for. the blazing blizzards and regular blizzards are very nice looking animals i just love the red eyes on the blazing
thank you for your help

Mack super snows keep the stripes. The only reason prices are so high right now is the gene was just discovered in 2004 and it has ALOT of neat side effects when outbred to different morphs...
