onthefly Feb 19, 2006 10:10 PM

I have two A.L that were cought in the back yard in the Los Angeles area, one of them is a greenish color and one is dark brown with light marbling, I see the redish color ones and some that are grey marbled. Are thes the same species or differant subspecies

Alligator lizards are highly variable in terms of color so all of the guys you're seeing are the same species. Sometimes you'll encounter more than one under the same piece of cover just because it's a good spot, but a lot of them are also starting to hook up for mating this time of year.
