Just Brought Concinnus Out Of Hibernation Pics

AndyH Feb 20, 2006 01:14 AM

Warmed up my pair of Concinnus over this weekend. They're quite active, but I haven't caught any breeding activity yet. Hopefully the weather warms up a bit around my place so I can catch some frogs. I've got a few tricks to try this week to get them on mice. Hopefully it works.

Really nice snakes. Such an overlooked subspecies too. Certainly one of my favorite thamnophines, tons of personality.

Good luck with the breeding! (and the feeding)

Here's a pic of one of my pair's babies from last year, produced by a friend of mine...

I never really had more than eastern garters when it comes to garters and i have been looking at the more expensive species and i was just wondering Bryan, how much do those go for normally?

Thanks

Hey Cameron,

Long answer to a short question, lol:

For an idea of pricing check out www.gartersnakemorphs.com

That's Scott Felzers page. He's one of the few big breeders of garters out there and does produce some beautiful animals. As for the Oregon red spotted's, I have only seen them for sale in the classifieds once and they were wild caught, so I really couldn't tell you what they would normally go for. I paid a good chunk for my oregons, but they are cb adult mice eaters and therefore worth the extra money, in my opinion.

I got my infernalis from Casey Lazik, he was selling off a lot of his garters at the time, so I don't know if he still works with them, but I know Felzer sells the babies for $125.

Hope this helps :O)

I wanna say they had about 9 babies? I got the pair shortly after the female gave birth.

She's looking nice and plump all of a sudden, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed ;O)
