Cement mixing tubs....no longer available at Home Depot...

bthacker Feb 20, 2006 05:06 PM

I was looking to build another rat rack and thought I might start with the tubs. I went to find them at Home Depot and they switched to a different tub, which felt flimsy and wouldn't match what I already have.

I looked on the tubs that I had before and the brand is Plasgad. I contacted them but it doesn't look like I will be able to get any unless they sell to a store out here in the US.

Does anyone else have any suggestions? I went to Lowes and their tubs were just as bad.

Plasgad is an Isreali compnay, and they had a US distributor in Cali. I was offered 100 medium tubs for $400 shipped. That company does not seem to be around. And last year some time the way they did their distributors gave me a headache.

That is the offical list, but others have to be buying them.

They were buy far the best. I was always wanting the exlarge and jumbos no one carried.

I may go and buy up a lot of the ones around my area now that I know they changed.

If I find a dist, I will surely post it. People at plasgad were very cool, I actually talked to them about making turtle tubs, they seemed interested in the idea when they saw the prices. Maybe they are just moving out of the US market? Which does not make sense?

DAMN I'm good

Using archive.org to find the old site info I got

main site

and

They may only deal in volume, so a group order, or if someone wants to make a little money have fun.

I hope that place helps, I may be looking for some too, if I build a rack at the shop this spring

The tubs I got from home Depot for my Rat racks were called Mix-A-Tub made by Agree corp. They are still around but Home Depot doesn't seam to carry their products online any more. The company will sell to the local consumer, but I think they have a minimum order and shipping is around $100 for the minimum order. I can't recall the minimum order quanity. Heres the site. I used the 7 gal and 11 gal for my rat racks.

Argee is the place I have ordered mine as well. They do have a minimum order of $250.00 but if you don't meet that they will just mark some of their stuff up 10% but shipping is expensive. I bought the 45 gallon mix-a-tubs (for g. pigs) which has alot of space. They were like $27.00 ea. plus shipping min. order of 5 due to the box lot being 5 units. Their smaller ones are great for rats and those are around 5 bucks or so. They are really easy to work with and will ship their stuff right to you. Costs a little but so much easier to work with than alot of the others I've found such as MacCout Products and Tuff Tubs. Those guys are difficult to order from and you must go through 47 distributors to find what your looking for, then, they have to order it so you must meet a minimum there and then pay for shipping. It was a lot of fun trying to do my research and find the best, ARGEE is the best. I talked to Lauren there and she was really great!! I'll post some pics of the g. pig racks once they are done, but the rat rack will be posted within days. Almost there!

They only had 2 in stock but I was able to order 11 more, in this Friday! It was at a larger ACE store.......

Randall_Turner Feb 21, 2006 08:22 PM

You lucky bum, the only local Ace hardwares around here are small enough you can spit across the store diagonally.

A few years ago I was looking for a specific brand of large plastic tub. On the companies website they listed ACE as a national distributor. At the time I was living in Lincoln, Nebraska which was a large enough town to have several ACE stores. I found out that each was locally or regionally owned and there was no obligation to carry particular brands. It may be a local crapshoot finding these tubs, unfortunately.

joshhutto Feb 23, 2006 11:33 PM

we have 2 Home Depot's in the town i live. One of them does not carry the mixing tubs but the other still has about 100 of them. I just bought 20 for replacements and just in case I build another rack. I will be going back and probably buying another 20.
