my new mountain king

sc_shark Feb 20, 2006 07:13 PM

Here is my new captive bred, adopted coastal California Mountain Kingsnake (Lampropeltis zonata multifasciata). I named her Bandit, for obvious reasons. She is gorgeous! She doesn't bite or musk (although she used to be a little terror), and she has already devoured two f/t pinkies since I got her 1 week ago! I hope I will never have to part with this snake for as long as we are both alive. LOL

These pictures suck, she won't sit still, I'll keep working on them!

Jetzen,
I highly reccomend you get this particular subspecies. They cost more, but boy are they worth it. They are also not as common in collections.

I would rate the Todos Santos second (for rarity and unusaul bands) and the pulchra (San Deigo) mountain king third for pure beauty and ease of feeding (hardy rodent feeders). The real hard to find locales are the St Helena and Diablo mtn kings. If you have these in your collection then you are a hardcore mtn king fan

The more common Baja and various sonoran mtn kings don't do much for me because they are very common in collections.

I used to collect coastal zonata every once in awhile back in the 60's-70's but the only thing they would eat was bluebellies. So i'm gonna go with well started pinkie eatin cb's this time.

I got a pair of '05 Bass Lake L.z. multicincta from Ric Blair this last summer and they have me hooked. When I win the lottery I'm going to buy two of everything Ric's got!
Zonata Rule!
