Tips and Tricks on a new BP enclosure

AggieCS_31 Jul 27, 2003 01:31 AM

Hey everyone, hope you all are having a good weekend. I was just writing because i'm beginning to build my sub-adult BP a new enclosure and wanted to get some input on the dimensions. I have him in a 55gallon aquarium right now, but I just want him to have a little more room to move around. I was thinking maybe a 3'x2'x15" tall. Does that sound like a good size? Please reply with any hints, tips, or tricks when building this. Also, if you have pictures of custom enclosures, please attach them. Thank you in advance.

going with 4'w x 2'd. I say this because you get that extra room without paying anymore for materials. See, chances are you're going to either get a full 4x8 sheet of plywood or a few pieces of 2x4 plywood. These are just industry standard sizes. And these sizes just really lend themselves well to the 4wx2d size of cage. hope this helps.

What is the best way to place my uth? Would the plywood be too thick to conduct the heat properly? Or would something else be in order? Thx.

If you really want to use a uth, cut a hole out of the bottom 1" bigger than the uth on all four sides. cover that hole with a piece of 1/8" glass or plexi glass which is 2" bigger than the hole on all sides. Smack the uth to the glass. Just be sure the cage doesn't sit directly on another solid surface for its entire area.
