derekroddy Feb 20, 2006 10:32 PM

I've been shakin' like a leaf today.
Got 8 very big 100% perfect eggs. Another 3 that have veins and embryos but are small and elongated. Now the waiting starts.....

I see some dang big eggs there, amazing how large they are! Congratulations for sure, that has got to be eggciting. Here are the first 6 of a 14 egg clutch laid by my little girl, so far all appear fertile.
Question, you have no media whatsoever with your eggs, were they in place temporarily for pictures or will you incubate them just as they appear in the picture?
Good Luck thats really a cool sight to see!

I don't like the eggs to be in contact with any moisture. I have water trays under the wire grate. They get plenty of humidity. I've incubated many eggs like this and never had a problem. We'll see, I hope they hatch. Won't be selling any though if they do! LOL!!!!!

You've made it through the easy part. On to the hatching & then comes the worst part. Getting the little buggers feeding. I've still got 2 from last year that refuse to feed on their own. Baby Blackheads just don't like food.

Good luck & it looks like mine are in their post-ov sheds right now.

Congrats! That's awesome. Have you hatched eggs in a hovabator before? I'd be too afraid with that clutch. I have some photos of how I built my incubator if you are looking to make one. Doesn't cost much more than the price of a helix.
Best of luck!
Joe

You know it's funny but I've had nothing but 100% hatch rates in the Hov. Last year I got a $500 quail farms incubator and lost every egg!!!
I think I'll stick to what I know works.LOL.

That's a great sight! The eggs are huge!

What temperature are you incubating the eggs at?
