Tank filtration setup help

yesimhavingfun Feb 20, 2006 11:06 PM

Hello everyone,
I somehow found a 90 gal tank for 50 bucks and have never set an enclosure this large up with water. I want to put my 3 albino RES in it, but am having a heck of a time figure out how to set it up! For one, I want to use a canister filter or sump, but since the tank is only about 2/3 full, I can’t seem to find anything strong enough or long enough to work. I don’t want to do under gravel b/c I found it to suck unless it’s an extra filter for a much bigger and better one. Also, any ideas on basking spots? I don’t want to have to put 800 lbs if rock into the tank to make a basking platform. Any ideas or suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Hi have you tried the zoo med turtle dock?? You have a big tank get a good quality canister filter like a ehiem and it comes with a spray bar as the outlet for the water but you can buy T junctions so get a couple of spray bars and bit of extra piping and run two spray bars! Or if you can afford it look at two canister filters then you have twice the power to move the water around or a good internal one what ever you do you need a lot of filtration for a big tank have a look at the filter and get the biggest and best you can afford! I will supply you a link for the turtle dock!

Fill it all the way up

Create your basking spot above the level of the tank

Build a wall around the top of the tank to prevent escape, thus taking full advantage of your water capacity, and allowing you to use whatever kind of filter you want.
