Foam block incubation?

Hey All,

i think it was on this forum alittle while ago someone posted information about using a foam block in a dish of water to incubate their eggs it kept the eggs humid but not wet, does any one have any info on that?

Hey Adam,

That was me. I didn't have much information, I was just sharing what a fellow in Germany was doing and looking for opinions. Basically, he uses a relatively thick layer of poly-fiber aquarium filter material in his egg boxes (like the poly-fill stuff you make pillows with), with about 1/2" of water on the bottom and no air holes in the egg box. I'm not sure I'm too keen on the idea; I don't think I would like to have to open the egg boxes occasionally just to let fresh air in. I like the idea of egg boxes with a few small air holes in an 80-90% humid and mildly ventilated incubator.

The interesting part of what he does that got my attention, is how he uses damp foam pieces in his nest boxes instead of moss, etc...
