Question about a local Reptile Store?

VolcomHerp Feb 21, 2006 02:55 PM

I have recently purchased some rats and mice from a local reptile store and have just found out that most of their animals have mites!! I'm now worried that mabey the feeders I buy from them might have mites to. Can rats and mice get mites? Should I continue buying from them? Don't panic I do pre-kill the rodents before I feed my boa's.
regards
Jake

Snake mites only live on snakes. To be on the safe side you can kill and then freeze the rodents before feeding them to your snakes. This would freeze any critters that may be on the rodents. What I would do if I were you is order frozen rats that way you don't have to worry and I'm sure you will save money.

Check out www.bigcheeserodents.com and www.miceonice.com these are the only two companies I've used and both are good. Mice on ice is probably a little more money and with big cheese they only have a one pack minimum. I hope this helps.
