Scarlet snake and scarlet king.

eatinmachine Feb 21, 2006 04:12 PM

What are the main differences? How do you find them? I know some of you keep both the scarlet king snake and the scarlet snake. Some say that it is easiest to keep the scarlet kingsnake on pinkies. And the scarlet snake on whipped eggs but will it readily eat pinks when it is large enough?
Thanks for the info josh

Scarlet snakes have a white bellie and more of a pointed nose.

Scarlet kings have full rings around body. Scarlet kings colors are much more brighter.

Scarlet kings tend to be more easier to keep as they will eat pinkies but do perfer skinks.

I had a scarlet snake for about a month and it never would eat whipped eggs, or anole eggs. It was a newborn though so i dont know about adults.

Its hard to find captive bred scarlet kings let alone scarlet snakes. If you do they are normally expensive. Wild caught scarlet kings normally go for over $100

Good Luck and hope i helped..

Dan should post some more helpful info.

There are exceptions to the belly rings on Scarlet Kingsnakes.
The Scarlet is nearly impossible to keep, and will likely die.
