Teeny Tiny Hatchling Chuckwalla

rachel Jul 27, 2003 04:38 AM

Hi

Just looked in our incubator and we have a hatchling Chuck

Never really prepared for this, as didn't think our first clutch would really hatch!

Is there any special care for hatchlings that I should be aware of e.g. extra heat, water etc? Am about to take him out and put him on some damp tissue, so he doesn't tear off his rather large egg sack.

Any hints or tips are more than welcome.

Rachel

P.S. Going to go coo over my new baby

Not the best for fresh breath but it is an important part of their diet at first----- it is said to help get the enzymes & "stuff " activated in their gut to aid in digesting plant material. I just saw a one yr old nibbling on a dried piece of dump earlier today--------- Yummy Yumm Yum.

** Just don't go giving the babies sugar!!!**
