Sinacorn??

AnimalSquabbles Feb 21, 2006 06:02 PM

I saw an add for a baby mix between a Sinaloan Milk and an Okeetee corn for about $90. It looks very badass but Im wondering if its worth $90 if it might have some kinda problems being a hybrid.

first off let me tell ya my sinacorn is awesome, i love him. i also know the girl your talkin about and if i had the money she would be mine. as of problems their is none. they are extremely variable with their appearance and temperment,by temperment i mean some act like corns and some act like milks. mine acts like a milk it hasnt tried to bite but it is jumpy like most milks. i have seen them from 50$ to 250$ depending on how they look and where you get them.i spent about 105$ on mine shipped. the one for sale that you are looking at is from a very reputable dealer and they have good animals. that one has a jurassic milk look to it where, mine is more of the "wanted" sinacorn look, but the one you want i wouldnt hesitate to buy but im broke after spending 500 this month alone on animals and supplies. i believe it is lilgemsmice has a sinacorn like mine also, if i were you i would get it.

Thats a great looking snake. Love the look.
How big do they get , I imagine about 4 to 5 feet ?

adamjeffery Feb 22, 2006 08:12 AM

its hard to say with hybrids but sinaloans and corns are pretty close size wise so 4-5 is my guess also. thanks for the nice comment

Nice looking sinacorn.
I would suggest getting the motley or aztec/zz in there somewhere along the line.

I think what the poster was asking was, is there any genetic problems. Can they reproduce or are they sterile

I try to take one day at a time but sometimes several days attack me at once!

adamjeffery Feb 22, 2006 08:10 AM

well i know it was short but no problems covers it all, mine specifically(sp) is not old enough to breed but mine is an f2 sinacorn so the f1 are definetly not sterile.i must say ive never spoke to anybody who breeds them consistantly but my breeder will be breeding my snakes sister this year, so we will see if the f2 is sterile but i doubt it. mine should breed in the next few years and im going to breed him to an albino nelsons.he could breed next year but i cant unless i get a female old enough. i wont breed him to my female corn cuz i have a specific male i breed her to and they produce very nice babies, i get hypos, aneries, normals and ghosts, with the babies all being het anery, het amel and 66% being het hypo. so i wont mess that up even for 1 year.but i f one of my sisters corns are female then maybe but i havnt seen them since my snake popped them out.

i would stay away from making 75% corns because they look just like corns and could be misrepresented

i want to prove out some genetics first to see if the origional corn had hets and then possibly add somelater. the first breeding i have "planned" for my sinacorn will be to my albino nelsons in 2-3 years, this will prove out if he is het albino or not. if i get a female snow corn thats old enough to breed next year then i will breed him to her to find out if hes het amel or anery. one goal is to produce a sinaloan "looking" (aberrant or not) anery. i have never seen or heard of any problems with breeding or egg counts accept for one of the responses to this post. it is quite possible that with f2 sinacorns being less fertile or sterile, but it might just be that animal inparticular. with hybrids its always a guessing game. ive seen sinacorns take on cornsnake size and apperance that pop out corn snake size clutches and ive seen sinacorns pop out milksnake size cluthes, it depends on the animal and what traits it took from which parents.
im just glad to see more people asking questions and making responses twords hybrids lately, i feel it is a great step.
here on kingsnake most opinions are split but that is because most of us are more experienced and do some breeding at some level, and that could possibly make pure breeding more difficult, but most snakes end up in the hands of the general public and they dont care what the snake is as long as it is cool looking to them. so as long as they are sold correctly who cares its good for the hobby

you should also breed your sinacorn to your mbk, that should make an interesting clutch

i was planning on it if they will mate without problems. cuz i dont have a male mbk right now but might get one in the future, just so i can use her for hybrid projects.

you should breed it to a syspila x knoblochi .

adamjeffery Feb 24, 2006 09:19 PM

i actually turned down the redmilks i was origionally going to buy because the seller was pretty sheisty and didnt know enough about the snakes history. all she could say was that they were a year and a half and eating ringneck snakes. i didnt want a snake that was fussy so i ended up buying a albino nelsons and a mbk. but when im ready to take the syspilia plunge i will get some from you and jeff. but i will definetly get some hybrids from ya soon. lrt me know what ya get this year un less you have a female that would breed next year?(now im thinking hmmmm)

no females ready to breed this year - but check with me this summer if you are interested in younger animals then.

i think you made the right call on the syspila. at 1.5 years they should be on mice. jeff's a good guy with some really nice reds, so if you decide to get into syspila you could do a lot worse than dealing with him.

The first SinaCorns I knew of were produced by Kim Bell, Mark Bell's wife out of Fla. She had Corn-Pueblans and Sin-Corns. She bred a striped Snow Corn which turned out to be a hypo also to a Sinaloan and also to a Pueblan. I have only seen a few off the Sinacorns from her including an anerythristic one. I don't know if they breed later and that is why I don't see offspring at the Breeders expo in Daytona. Usually it is only a yearling or two she brings. She has plenty of the Corn-Pueblans, albinos, normals, snows, ghost, hypos and anerythristic in different patterns including motley and striping. I wonder if the Sinacorns are less fertile.

i dont know what hapened to that post but here is the rest of it.

i had the F2 sinacorns for 2 seasons the 1st season i got 4 good eggs and to slugs the second season i got 5 good eggs, it could be something to do with lo egg counts , maybe. i gave mine to a freind and he had no luck apart from a few slugs, he sold the female and kept the male as a pet.
