hello mike... go for a retic!
why?

1.feeding depends on the individual... some eat more than others. depending on what size your retic to be you can feed anywhere from every week to every three weeks. every snake is unique so you should listen to your animals. start with rats and then switch to rabbits... switching to rabbits sooner is better than switching later.

2. under the tank heat is best... you can keep males in 4'- 6' enclosures for most or all of their life... females you should go with either 6'- 8' they should be close to 3ft wide.

3. your retic is what you make it... hook training is essiantal to conditioning and "switching" off the feeding response. its best you understand and respect your retics feeding behavior. as every snake is a little different, some will be more alert and defensive than others.

4. some males are breedable at 9 months, but all males are breedable at 18 months. males tend to get 10'- 15', sometimes bigger though... all depending on genetics and food intake. a good size male could anywhere in the 50lbs-80lbs ramge.

below is a few pics of one ofg my males, he usually eats every 7-10 days. he around 5ft long.

good luck and have fun picking out a new snake!!!!!!!!
