Is there a Doctor in the House?

CBH Feb 21, 2006 07:17 PM

Hello all,

I consider myself a knowledgeable person, but this has got me stumped. Anyone have any ideas??

This is a Male candoia c paulsoni. Eats and defecates fine...this is NOT a meal I assure you. What do you all think? Tumor? It does appear to be getting bigger?

And before I get a million posts saying take it to the vet...I will but the vets around here unfortuntely to not know much about reptiles....

Thanks in advance....

I'm far from being a doctor myself, but if it eats and defecates with no problems I'd guess a tumor also. How long has it been like this? I would find a vet somewhere, just to find out what it is.

It has been a couple months since I first noticed it, but it has just recently (last couple weeks) started to get really big.

Chris:

I'm not a vet, but I did work at an animal hospital for 9 years.

The first thing any vet will do is to take an X-Ray. The X-Ray will show if it is a tumor or a build up of fluid. If it's fluid the vet will probabaly try and asperate that area to remove the fluid. Sometimes snakes get injured and fluid will build up in the effected area. The vet won't have to be a herp expert to diagnose the problem.

I hope this helps.

Good luck

I watch a show name new breed vets and they had an animal like this at the Australian Zoo. They operated on her and now seems to be doing well. I try to see to get you a link fo it.

Well the vet thought the same thing as I did pretty much. Most likely NOT a tumor (to soft). Not impaction (still eating and defecating fine). So, Probably fluid build up in the body cavity. Going to raise temps and humdity more and wait it out.....

Thanks for the help!
