substrate question: shredded paper

Thera Feb 21, 2006 09:41 PM

Anyone ever try shredded newspaper for kenyans as opposed to aspen? I'm using aspen now. I have a couple snakes that seem to repeatedly get mild stomatitis/RI everytime I put them on the aspen. I put them on shredded news paper and they do fine. I've never used the newspaper on any large scale before and I am wondering if anyone has tried it. Thanks

Hi my name is David and I have been razing snake for about 34 years and all of these suggestions are ok it all depends on what makes your snake happy and relaxed . Just another option is ground English Walnut shells I have been using it for my sand Boas and others as well not just desert specimens and it works grate and they seam to thrive in it and have done so for years PS it also works like a clumping cat liter for reptiles . Good luck with all you do !
