OT: Expo Photos fo rthe curious

WillHayward Feb 22, 2006 05:04 PM

After I was hired to build the Ontario Reptile Expo website, I was also asked to take some photos documenting this months event. Most of the photos are snapshots, but there is the odd photo that I'm really proud/fond of. I even took my portable studio to take some photos of the orange dragons on white background.

And Here are all of the photos... Below, are some of my favourites out of the bunch.

Sheila Platt's beauties. www.capitaldragons.com

I think these things are hilarious. I'll be picking up a few next time!

What do the geckos see during the expo? www.hqreptiles.com

I forget whos this was...

Squirmish anyone?

Animal Segregation? From Rhonda Causton.

Thanks, and

that you did their site! I checked out the photos, lots of nice ones Interesting perspective from the gecko containers ;-/ Never thought about it from their point of view.

Is Ontario where there is a big invertebrate show every year? A friend was up there somewhere and her son (a little bug-buddy of mine) couldn't stop talking about it.

How is your site coming along??

ARGH The links I mad do not work. I wish I could edit that. PhEve!???

My website? Still in shambles untill I finish all the "Paying" customers. Hah. Gotta pay off all this debt! Its destroying my life. But theres no rush, after all eggs take lots of time to incubate... and we all know you can't rush little ones into the world. I have one more site to complete, anotehr that is still a tentative deal that is pending confirmation, and I'd put it off for any other takers.

I love trying to get in close and get the reptiles view when taking a photo, because usually all you see if what you would if you yourself was looking down into a bucket. Much more interesting.

And as for the bugs... April there is going to be a huge invertabrate section to the Expo. For more information: http://www.reptileexpo.ca/april.html

On another note, at the Expo, I spent about an hour with Lynda Horgan, (Chanadian Chameleon Expert extraordinaire and apparently one of the original 15 members of Adcham) discussing everything about anythign chameleon related. I swear, her knowledge is enough to burst my brain. As you all know, or should, the climate here can get a little extreme compared down south, so we talked about meathods that Canadians would find easier/safer to raise chameleons. Quite an intreguing subject.

Do you do sites for work or as a side job?

your bottom link worked, but the top didn't

were the hermit crab shells painted for a race? When i first looked at it I have no idea what the heacking animal I was trying ot see! lol! My head was in lizard-, not crab- land! haha!

maybe that was the bug show he was talking about. WIll have to ask. Living in NH i fully understand the tough climate. The very dry air is by far the toughest - don't you think? The tarantulas and Darwin are OK with dry and my little pinktoe has a diff setup to keep her humidity in. Then there is Skippy, the aquatic frog - she doesn't complain about the dry air!

Nice that you made that cham expert connection! Maybe I will pick your brain for winter methods once I get my little nosy be

The Hermit Crabs were more like a demolition derby! Or at least that's the way it looked! It would be still... then all of a sudden one of them would randomly crawl accross the pile and then ball up again. Very Humorous. I have to get one Next time. Its going right on my desk next to my monitor.

Humidity here is torture during the winter... I mean if my skin is turning white and peeling even when I moisturise, what do you think its doing to my reptiles! If there was a negative humidity, I think we would have it! Whats more is, this summer its going to get TOO HOT for me to put these chameleons outside! I specifically made these cages to be moved outside for the summer. :|

Cant wait to see your new baby! I'd be glad to glass on some info, even if it is controversial for some.
