10'6" 50 LB BCC......Need some edumacated guesses on locality....Gus....Johnson.Herp....you out there?.....

Hey Guys-

I picked this girl up a couple of weeks ago not knowing her true locality. I was hoping some BCC keepers could chime in their thoughts. She is super sweet but a handful to manage by myself.....I can't imagine owning or handling anything larger. She just shed so I thought I would get some pics and show her off. Below her is a Sipperly male I picked up with her and is super tame himself. She is 15 years old, originally brought in by Tremper but didn't know locale at time. The male is around 7' and 12 years old........

I have learned, to try and not indentify B.C.C. by locale, based on lookes alone, " it does not always work. " However, if she is a " pure locale " and not a " cross breed, " it would be in my opinion, that she would be of a Brazil locale. Her tail, is shorter and most of all " the number of saddles that she has. " Most Surinames and Guyanas and Peruvians and even Ecuadorians and Venezuelan B.C.C., have 12 to no more than 13-14 saddles before they turn red. She has more, wich is typical of alot of Boas I have seen that come out of " parts " of Brazil, " Brazil is a huge country though and that can be a pretty vague example. She is just a Big Beautiful Boa and there is no magic potion, for determining her locale.Good Luck..........Johnson Herp

Thanks.....I was leaning that way just based on looks alone. She was imported 15 years ago so there is no way of telling. I appreciate the comments and wish you luck this year....

if she was imported 15yrs ago, that is back when there were alot of Boas comming in from areas that lets just say; " were not not allowing exportation of their native fauna. " If she is that old, I am pretty impressed, but not surprised being an import. Those wild genes are really tuff, especially if you get a good one. Sounds like, you got yourself a survivor!........Johnson Herp

Yeah...she was brought in as a baby by Tremper and taken care of pretty well. She is a sweetheart and just an amazing creature to look at. I hope she lives another 15 years at least....

Take care
